Verizon Shows Off 8.5 Mbps LTE In Boston – Ahead of 25-30 market launch later this year…


In April, Verizon decided to take LTE wireless broadband service to a Boston coffee house to show it off to those who might not be familiar with the technology. In a video just released by the company, Verizon employees highlight the technology to users who are used to clunkier and slower wireless connectivity. Speedtests in the video (on a completely uncongested network, mind you) show users hitting downstream speeds of up to 8.5 Mbps, and upstream speeds of up to 2.8 Mbps — which is about in line with Verizon’s promise to deliver between 5 and 12 Mbps downstream. Verizon will be launching the service in between 25-30 markets later this year — though we’re still waiting on Verizon to figure out just how much they want to try and charge for the service…
