Joining the online lineup, one that was launched in June with the introduction of Turner’s TNT and TBS, Verizon will add three new online video channels: Adult Swim, Cartoon Network and truTV. Similar to TNT and TBS, subscribers will be able to access television shows off the FiOS TV Online menu within 24 hours after an episode appears on live television.

When Adult Swim was launched on FiOS TV Online this week, views were able to access new episodes of “The Boondocks,” “The Venture Bros.,” “Delocated,” “Childrens Hospital” and “Metalocalypse.” Not far behind, Cartoon Network and truTV shows such as “Adventure Time,” “Ben Ten: Alien Force,” “All Worked Up” and “The Smoking Gun Presents: World’s Dumbest” will be available on the FiOS TV Online lineup.

As a portable video service, any FiOS customer will be able to watch these programs on either their PC or laptop in their home or at another location via any broadband connection.

Verizon may have the lead in the U.S. Fiber to the Home (FTTH) race, but the novelty of the fiber connection needs to include a growing library of online video content that speak to the user’s ever-changing viewing habits, and the addition of these new channels from Time Warner are a move in that direction. But the move is also way to battle the cable MSO’s TV Everywhere efforts such as Time Warner Cable’s (NYSE: TWC-WI) Turner Web portal service and Comcast’s (Nasdaq: CMCSA) Xfinity service.
