Verizon Offers More FiOS Bundle Options – Add More Speed, or More Channels For $5-$10 More

Verizon this morning announced that the company is offering FiOS customers several new options, increasing the ability to pick and choose bundle components. Previously, FiOS customers were offered three FiOS service levels, varying depending on the connection speed and the number of TV channels. Now, Verizon says they're allowing users to mix and match -- for "just $5 to $10 a month." A family happy with 15 Mbps as part of their bundle but who want additional TV channels can pay $5 for 324 channels (80 in HD) or $10 for 391 channels, (100 in HD.)

"The existing bundles have kept many customers completely satisfied and they will still be in place priced at $99.99, $114.99 and $129.99 as before," Verizon's Bob Elek tells Broadband Reports. "However, going forward, if you want to juice up one bundle with more Internet speed but keep everything else as it is, you can just by adding $5 per month more to the base price," he says. "If more TV is important to you, no problem an additional $10 per month adds more channels to your bundle. And if you prefer to take a step back, that will be possible too."

For example. if you're n the $99 bundle option and want to bump your 15 Mbps speed to 25 Mbps, you pay $5 more a month. If you want to bump your 15 Mbps speed to symmetrical 35 Mbps, you'll pay an additional $10 per month. The end of the release suggests this pricing is for new customers, and we're trying to confirm whether or not existing customers are excluded.

Update: Verizon's Bob Elek gave us this additional information for existing users hoping to take advantage of the new pricing:

Existing customers coming off of contract can take advantage of this, yes. Their base triple play bundle goes from $99.99 to $109.99 but they can juice up or drop back as they wish. Pricing is adjusted accordingly throughout and month-to-month customers can do so at any time and the same applies to them.

Elek also notes that you can save $10 if you order a bundle online, up from the $5 online ordering discount they used to offer.
