Verizon has unveiled their first quarter earnings, which indicate the company saw a earnings of $1.44 billion on revenues of $26.99 billion. According to the company, they added 906,000 contract subscribers, slightly more than the quarter before but well ahead of AT&T's 62,000 subscribers announced yesterday. According to Verizon, the company also added 207,000 net FiOS Internet and 192,000 net FiOS TV additions, bringing their totals to 4.3 million FiOS Internet connections and 3.7 million total FiOS TV connections. Like AT&T, because of un-upgraded DSL markets, Verizon actually only saw a net increase of 98,000 broadband connections from last quarter as customers in un-upgraded markets get lured away by faster speeds and the cable triple play. Landline revenues also continued to decline, and Verizon notes their wireline workforce is 16,000 employees lighter than it was last year at this time.
