TDS Telecom Launches VDSL2 Service – $70 a month for 25/5 Mbps

TDS Telecom this week announced that the company is now offering a new VDSL2-based broadband tier that offers 25 Mbps downstream and 5 Mbps upstream for $70 a month in seven states, including Georgia, Indiana, Michigan, New Hampshire, Vermont, Tennessee and Wisconsin. According to the company they'll be deploying the faster tier in 13 more states in the first quarter of 2011. According to the company's website, TDS has reduced the price of their 15 Mbps tier to $35 a month, and the price of their 5 Mbps tier to $20 a month. The company largely serves rural markets, but does offer fiber to the home in a few select locations (symmetrical 50 Mbps for $50) -- most notably markets where they're seeing pressure from municipal fiber deployments.
