RUS Announces $478 Million in New Broadband Loans – Expansion Projects Get Aid Across Fifteen States


As a Congressional Committee begins sniffing around oversight of broadband stimulus funding due to the Open Range bankruptcy, the Rural Utilities Service of the Department of Agriculture this week announced a total of $478.5 million in new broadband loans. According to the RUS announcement, the $478 million will be doled out across fifteen states for a variety of broadband infrastructure improvement projects, ranging from expansion of Paul Bunyan Rural Telephone Cooperative's existing FTTH footprint in Minnesota, to the expansion of Polar Communications Mutual Aid Corporation's FTTP footprint to an additional eighteen exchanges.
