Integra Telecom continues to see robust growth in its Denver, Colo. market and has responded to that need by plunking down $2.1 million to build out another 121 route fiber miles in the region.
Not surprisingly, a big driver of the Denver fiber expansion is focused on expanding the availability of Ethernet services to both SMBs and enterprise-level businesses that are requiring higher bandwidth speeds.
This latest fiber investment is part of what the service provider calls an asset intensive, fiber-based market strategy it adopted since it acquired the former Electric Lightwave in 2006.
From another angle, the investment will enable Integra to better compete in Denver’s highly competitive telecom market. Not only is the city home to incumbent ILEC Qwest (NYSE: Q), but also the ever-aggressive Zayo Enterprise networks, which built 100 miles of fiber miles into Denver as part of its ‘Fiber-to-the-Enterprise’ initiative.
