Cable, TelcoTV Operators Eye Tablet Video – Verizon, Cablevision, Comcast all have projects underway


We’ve already noted that Verizon is working with Motorola on an Android-based tablet that will be integrated with FiOSTV content and services. Time Warner Cable this week also indicated the company was working on a video streaming application for the iPad, something Comcast and Cablevision are also investigating. This is of course part of a broader satellite, telcoTV and cable industry effort to extend their TV Anywhere paywalled functionality to tablet computers, and of course the effort’s success will be dictated by ease of use — and navigating broadcaster licensing restrictions. You’ll of course note that while most of these companies are focusing on iOS, Verizon’s hitched their wagon to Android.
